The heightened concern for entrapped moisture in wall systems and the related consequences, such as mold and metal corrosion, has increased the demand for rainscreen wall systems that offer venting and drying potential while controlling rainwater. Because the systems are constructed from several inter-related components that must work together to obtain desired performance, there is much confusion about how these components should be specified, contracted and constructed.

Members of the Metal Construction Association, aware and concerned about this increasing level of confusion and misinformation, put together a team of experts to develop Understanding The Rainscreen Principle. This valuable resource clarifies for architects, contractors, code officials and building owners the key principles for designing and installing Drained/Back-Ventilated and Pressure Equalized Rainscreen systems. It offers concepts and details in an easy-to-understand format that includes diagrams and additional resources.
