Nearly 2,000 design and construction professionals from California and across the nation gathered in Anaheim at Ecobuild America and AEC Science & Technology (AEC-ST). From May 15 -17 at the Anaheim Convention Center, attendees explored sustainable, green, and high-performance solutions for the built environment and science and technology for architecture, engineering and construction.
The Anaheim location proved to be an excellent location to kickoff a West Coast show. George Borkovich, Principal of Ecobuild and AEC-ST elaborates, “With our fall show located in Washington, D.C., every December, our new spring event in Anaheim provides excellent coverage, bringing the important topics, sessions and exhibits to the largest concentration of AEC professionals in the U.S.”
The conference program featured some of the biggest names in the AEC industry. Attendees enjoyed the comprehensive coverage and open discussion on a wide variety of green building and certification methods. Sessions of particular interest included sessions showing the integration of IT and BIM to design sustainable projects. A key highlight was the keynote address “Beyond BIM – Toward Integrative Performance Driven Design Methodologies” presented by representatives from Gehry Technologies, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; Georgia Tech; and Square One Research.
Spurred by the high quality audience the show delivers, renewals for the 2008 shows are already very high. David Cross, Business Development for SG Blocks notes, "SG Blocks, LLC is beyond pleased with the quality of show, caliberof attendees, and the relevant seminars that were provided. Our enthusiasm forthe show can best be demonstrated by our commitment to exhibit again in December and increasing our presence."
Ecobuild America and AEC-ST will return to Anaheim May 19 – 22, 2008. Another sister event, Ecobuild Fall and AEC-ST Fall will take place December 10 – 13, 2007 in Washington, D.C., and features several co-located events including FEDcon, FEDspec, the National buildingSMART conference and more.
