As I embark on my new position running USGBC's residential development, there is no doubt in my mind that the timing could not be any better for homebuilding in general and green homebuilding in particular.
Veteran residential executive Nate Kredich has joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), stepping into the newly created role of Vice President for Residential Market Development, overseeing USGBC’s LEED for Homes program.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is participating as one of the title sponsors for the 2007 Solar Decathlon. The international competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is taking place October 12- 20, 2007 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Twenty teams, consisting of students from colleges and universities around the world, are participating in the competition to design, build, and operate energy-efficient homes that are entirely solar-powered.

Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System in 2000 to presently
having awarded over 800 buildings LEED certification. Today, USGBC is
especially proud to add to that list of recent LEED certified projects: the
organization’s own new headquarters office, situated in the heart of
Washington, D.C. The LEED Platinum-certified interior—which is located in a
LEED Gold-certified building—is a wonderful showcase for the many benefits of
green building.
