Steamboat Springs, CO. The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) currently is accepting proposals for technical programming at Environmental Connection 2009, IECA’s annual conference and expo to be held February 9-13, 2009 in Reno, Nevada.

All professionals in the erosion and sediment control industry are encouraged to participate in the education process. Abstracts for presentations relating to the following categories are being solicited: slope stabilization; stream restoration; vegetative establishment; stormwater management; wetland restoration and management techniques; erosion and sediment control; beach and shoreline stabilization and wind erosion and dust control. Specific topic suggestions are available on IECA’s web site at www.ieca.org/conference/callpresentations/topics.asp. Presentation formats include technical papers, workshops, forums, poster presentations and case studies. Presentation proposals will be reviewed by the IECA Technology Section Committee for possible inclusion in the EC09 technical program. Acceptance is based on presentation of thorough data and clear results, relevancy to the erosion control industry, innovation and clarity. If an abstract is accepted, the author will then be asked to provide the committee with the complete paper or presentation for part two of the review process.

All abstracts must be submitted through the IECA web site by May 5, 2008. Notification of abstract approval will be sent June 9, 2008. If selected, the final presentation will be due to IECA by October 3, 2008. Complete submission guidelines and example abstracts are available online at www.ieca.org/submissions .

All case study and technical paper submissions will be considered for selection into the Awards of Environmental Excellence program. Case study and technical papers presented at EC09 will be published in the conference proceedings and housed in IECA’s online article archive. IECA also is accepting submittals for the association’s annual photo contest and for IECA’s quarterly member’s only magazine Environmental Connection. Photo contest entries are accepted throughout the year. All articles and case studies for the magazine are subject to a double blind peer-review process. Copy deadlines for the magazine are as follows:

  • July 2008 issue: March 24
  • October 2008 issue: July 20
  • January 2009 issue: September 24
