(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and its Clean Energy Program today announced its 2008 Clean Energy Conference & Leadership Awards Program will be held October 17th at the Jersey City Hyatt Regency Hotel. This year’s conference – “Investing in a CleanTech Economy” – will engage businesses, regional organizations and municipalities in harnessing cleantech investment and growth opportunities.

The conference will take place on Friday, October 17th from 8:00AM until 5:00PM. In addition to networking sessions and roundtable discussions, the Conference will feature leading energy experts and breakout sessions such as: CleanTech in New Jersey; New Jersey’s Solar Market Transformation; Energy Efficiency; New Jersey’s Road Map to 20% by 2020; and CleanTech and Utilities: Building a Successful Future Together.

“New Jersey has consistently been a leader in harvesting clean energy solutions and our current involvement in the cleantech industry is one in which I am very proud to be a part of,” said NJBPU President Jeanne M. Fox. “This year’s conference will highlight the importance of the cleantech industry in not only reducing our energy costs and increasing our efficiency, but also in helping to drive economic growth and providing green jobs.”

The Annual Clean Energy Conference will welcome more than 800 leading businesses, cleantech professionals, and clean energy leaders to discuss and debate the most effective means to reach our clean energy goals.

“New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program and this annual Conference have helped Trump Marina achieve huge savings and leverage our organization within the business industry,” said Cheryl Wilson, Vice President of Marketing at Trump Marina, the 2007 Business Leader of the Year award winner. “New Jersey's Clean Energy Conference provides a great opportunity to network and learn from some of the industry’s leading professionals. In addition, it provides a platform for the State to showcase all of the exciting cleantech and renewable energy initiatives.”

The fourth annual New Jersey Clean Energy Leadership Awards will be presented, honoring individuals, municipalities, businesses, industries, and organizations that have improved New Jersey’s economic competitiveness and its environment through effective and innovative use of renewable energy, clean technologies, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas reduction strategies.
