Pinellas County Named Florida’ First Certified Green County
Cocoa, Fla. — The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) has recognized Pinellas County’s environmental stewardship by designating it as the first Certified Green Local Government in Florida. Developed and administered by researchers at the University of Central Florida’s Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), the Florida Green Local Government Standard focuses on improving local governments’ environmental performance in the areas of energy, water, air, land and waste, and examines internal environmental practices, incentives, ordinances and educational activities that aim to improve the environment. DOE Adopts ARI Standards to Test Efficiency of Commercial Cooling and Refrigeration Equipment
Arlington, Va. — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a final rule on Dec. 8, 2006, which adopts Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) Standards as federal test procedures to evaluate the energy efficiency performance of a variety of commercial cooling and refrigeration products. DOE adopted these ARI Standards as the test procedures it will use to evaluate the eligibility of these products to meet the minimum federal energy efficiency standards established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Chrysalis Awards Announce Best Green Remodeling Project Award Atlanta — The Chrysalis Awards For Remodeling Excellence has announced a new award category for the 2007 awards program, the Best Green Remodeling Project award.
