Welcome to the ED+C eNews for February 2008

The Polls Have Opened

There's a debate currently being waged amongst the ED+C staffers. It centers on CFLs. None of us are debating the energy merits offered by CFLs, those are pretty had to refute. Rather, we're arguing CFL usage as a whole being beneficial to the environment. Taking center stage is the mercury used and the average American's awareness. Is there enough awareness of the hazards regarding improper disposal of CFLs to ensure that each one is recycled properly? Even if there is enough awareness, is the average American willing to go that extra step to properly dispose of them?

And, for once, we don't want to hear what you have to say.

The reason is that we want to know your thoughts on magazine publishing and how issues are printed/distributed. You can tell us what you think by visiting the revamped www.edcmag.com and the ED+C Poll. Making your own selection allows you to instantly see how others have voted. Each month, we plan on bringing you new polls to gauge how you really feel about issues in sustainability.

Hey, I've been telling you for a while now that we're going to be making changes. And there are still more to come!

One thing that hasn't changed is the need for you to get those Excellence in Design Award entries submitted. The deadline for entries is next Friday, February 15, 2008. This is your last chance!

Don't forget about the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes Webinar series that begins February 13, and the SCS Indoor Air Quality series, which begins February 26.

That's it for now. Hope to see you on www.edcmag.com soon!

Cheers,

Derrick Teal
