Welcome to the Targeted ED+C eNews on Energy Conservation ... E
As we become more and more entrenched in the digital age, we become more and more reliant upon energy. But the need for an external source of energy to get a job done isn't a new concept. It has taken the form of an ox pulling a plow or a foot pressing the pedal of a loom -
both of which are sustainable but very, very slow.
The Industrial Revolution introduced us to the benefits of machinery powered by coal-fired steam. While far more effective than an ox or a foot, it was also far from sustainable.
Today, we understand that fossil fuels aren't unlimited. We also understand that other, cleaner sources of energy are out there - we just have to understand them better to take advantage of what they offer.
In the meantime, effective, cleaner management of the resources we have - including reducing consumption - is essential if harnessing clean, renewable sources of energy is going to make any difference for the future.
Cheers,
Derrick Teal
