2012 Color of the Year is Tangelo

Duo-Gard Industries Inc. has tapped Tangelo as its 2012 color of the year for its award-winning decorative daylighting panels for translucent walls, partitions andTangelo architectural accents. Available in varying intensities, Tangelo exudes the elements of vitality and enthusiasm designers are eager to add to this year’s environments.

Duo-Gard’s choice for 2011 was a soothing, reassuring Azure Blue that added a calming component to an environment. There’s nothing calming about this year’s selection.

“This year’s Tangelo is a tart and tangy orange with red undertones, filled with the energy and optimism we believe reflects today’s emerging attitude,” said Lori Arvidson, Duo-Gard’s product manager for decorative panels. “Tangelo is a perfect accent color for designers with a sense of adventure — and what designer doesn’t have that?”

The translucent Tangelo panels are part of Duo-Gard’s Sunset Collection. Patterns include the subtle ripples of the Sea Grass Series, the mosaic effects of Incognito, the botanicals of Winter Leaf and the soft mattes of Whisper. Like all Duo-Gard decorative daylighting panels, the Sunset Collection is available in recyclable translucent polycarbonate or acrylic, allowing designers to extend the benefits of diffused light throughout a room.

“Our decorative daylighting panels enable designers to enhance a building’s aesthetics, encourage its occupants and upgrade its sustainability for 75 percent of the industry’s typical cost,” said David Miller, president of Duo-Gard. “And they add a sense of fun. Why not?”

Duo-Gard also offers custom backlighting and illumination systems with both static and color-changing LEDs that help designers create a unique sense of place for any interior.
