CodeGreen Solutions launched a new free mobile app which enables real estate professionals to view and analyze ENERGY STAR scores right from their smartphones. This first of its kind solution responds to a need that CodeGreen saw amongst clients for a way to easily access ENERGY STAR information on the go. New disclosure requirements in cities such as New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Austin have increased the importance of having higher scores. The CodeGreen tool enables easy search and comparison for thousands of buildings throughout the country.

CodeGreen is an EPA ENERGY STAR Partner and has reviewed the energy use of more than 150 million square feet of buildings throughout the country. This unique and large data set enabled CodeGreen to develop proprietary algorithms to better compare energy use for similar type buildings. A building owner or tenant can use a mobile app to easily see how two similar built and occupied buildings use energy.

CodeGreen Energy App offers other useful features that will allow users to:

- See whether or not their building is compliant with new energy efficiency laws

- Send updates on their building’s energy efficiency for verification

- Understand new energy efficiency laws and see when their buildings are due to comply

- Share building performance stats on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter

Judging by this year’s results of the 2013 Top Products, we officially know we’re not going (too) crazy. It’s glaringly obvious that the market for accessing important information on the go has rapidly evolved in just one year and will continue to change. We wonder what’s in store for 2014, but for now enjoy the products that interested you—the reader of EDC’s print, digital, eNewsletter and, of course, mobile content—most in 2013.

Skanska’s senior vice president of Green Markets, Elizabeth Heider, shares her thoughts on the high points and happenings at Greenbuild 2013.
