Environmental and energy-saving features include the monitoring of indoor air quality, use of recycled materials for construction and commissioning of various energy-saving building systems.
The architect, URS/Stearns, designed a four-story, 50,000-square-foot structure that will include one courtroom, judges’ chambers and space for jury assembly and attorney conferences. The facility also will provide space for a US Congressional office and several federal agencies, including the GSA, Internal Revenue Service and US Marshal.
The building exterior will be composed of cast stone, brick and curtainwall with an architectural roof eyebrow added as aesthetic trim. The front fa¿e is on a radius facing the corner of two major streets in Youngstown. The $11.5 million project is scheduled to be complete in October 2002.
