BioBased Insulation Enters the Retail Market with Soy Seal

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. --BioBased Insulation, the industry leader in biologically-based spray polyurethane foam insulation for buildings, has launched Soy Seal, a line of soy-based, canned insulating foams for consumers.

Until now, BioBased Insulation’s award-winning, bio-based insulation products have only been available through a certified dealer network. With the launch of this product, available at The Home Depot, BioBased Insulation is applying the science behind their success to consumer products.

Soy Seal for Gaps & Cracks, a closed cell foam, is the first product available. The foam sealant is spray-applied using a straw. It expands to fill and seal gaps and cracks and to reduce energy loss. According to ENERGY STAR, air leaks are responsible for 25 to 40 percent of the energy used for heating and cooling a home. Stopping air infiltration is the most cost-effective way to reduce heating and cooling costs.

Soy Seal is a more responsible choice than petroleum-based foam sealants because it uses Agrol, a 96% pure bio-polyol to replace a portion of the petroleum. By incorporating a rapidly renewable resource Soy Seal supports farmers, helps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and decreases your carbon footprint.

Soy Seal exceeds the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s bio-content standards, and it is the first canned insulating foam to earn the stringent GREENGUARD for Children & Schools indoor air quality certification.

Soy Seal for Windows & Doors, will be the next product released. This low-pressure foam is formulated specifically to prevent damage or bowing to windows and doors. It also repels water to prevent moisture and mold problems common around doors and windows.

The Home Depot is offering the product with custom packaging through their Eco Options program.Every product with the Eco Options label has less of an impact on the environment than competing products.
