BP Solar Announces Completion of Solar Power Pilot Project

FREDERICK, MD - BP Solar announced the completion of its solar power construction program for Wal-Mart.  The company recently completed construction of three sites in California, including the 493.7 kilowatt (kW) solar power system at the Sam’s Club in La Habra, California, as well as systems at Wal-Mart Super Centers in Palm Springs (605.9 kW) and Beaumont (675.2 kW).

The three systems totalling over 1.7 MW mark the final installations of BP Solar’s 4.1 MW commitment to Wal-Mart as part of the retailer’s solar pilot project.

“We are very proud to provide seven Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Clubs with clean solar energy,” said Mark Kerstens, vice president of sales and marketing for BP Solar.   “These stores are shining examples of how businesses that choose renewable energy reduce their energy costs and can make a difference not only in a single community but in an entire region of the country.”

The 4.1 MW project consists of nearly twenty-four thousand solar panels expected to produce 6.7million kWh of electricity per year.  This is estimated to eliminate 4,786 Metric Tons of CO2 per year and is the equivalent of removing 877 cars from the road.

BP Solar’s commercial development team is focused on assisting corporations, to lower their energy costs while lessening the impact of their operations on the environment.  The company offers a variety of financing options for its business customers including power purchase agreements, leasing and traditional purchase plans.

Employee Pay & Insurance

How can BP work with a company that treats it's employees like they are disposable commodities, underpay them, over work them offer sub-standard if no insurance at all ruin small town after small town destroying America and feel good about it? The tens of thousands of dollars that will be saved in smaller energy bills will obviously go into the pockets of Wal-Mart stock holders and not the employees pockets to improve their lives, are you aware that most Wal-Mart employees actually use WELFARE to make ends meet, causing a further burden on the lower & middle class tax payers, obviously not, those of you at BP don't worry because you have high paid accountants & attorneys and politicians in your pockets to keep your profits in your pockets, you're greed is sickening and all your "Green Marketing" won't change mine or millions like me who think & know what you are truly about, destroy the environment, because in a few more decades most of you will be gone.

Dear Mr. Karwowski, What is your source of information for making such statements? I for one am glad that BP Solar is looking "beyond petroleum" and partnering with Wal-Mart for alternative sources of energy. It's way too expensive for you and me to invest in at this time. The risk and cost is high now but the benefits will more than offset the costs in the future just as the investment in space exploration did for us over the past several decades. BP and Wal-Mart keep up the good work!
