Energy Efficient Elevator

Farmington, Conn. - Otis Elevator Co.'s Gen2 machine room-less elevator system uses flat, polyurethane-coated steel belts to lift the elevator car and is completely lubrication free. The system is up to 50 percent more energy efficient than conventional elevators, the company says, using a permanent-magnet machine to reduce power consumption.
