First Annual Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award Recognizes Superior Commitment to Sustainability

DALTON, Ga.– Zeftron nylon named Paul Westbrook as the winner of first annual Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award. Announced during Greenbuild 2009, the award recognizes facility and architect and design professionals who employ and utilize unique sustainable practices in three key areas: at work, at home and in their community.

Westbrook will receive a $2,000 grand prize donation in his name to an environmentally focused charity. He will be also be highlighted in news announcements and be featured prominently on the Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award website. In addition, Zeftron nylon will also compile and share the best tips detailing effective sustainable practices for the work, home and community from all award entrants.

As director of sustainable development and a LEED-AP certified professional at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Westbrook’s remarkable commitment to sustainability at work contributed to one of their facilities receiving LEED Gold Certified status, the first semiconductor facility to receive such designation internationally. He has also helped other facilities within the Texas Instrument international network to achieve LEED certification.

His sustainability achievements at home include successfully designing his own passive/active solar house, which was recognized by National Association of Home Builders for innovative design. In his community, he is committed to teaching and sharing information on sustainable solutions; Westbrook serves as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas, Southern Methodist University and The University of Texas at Dallas.

Joshua Brugeman, sustainability director, of J.S. Vig Construction, in Ann Arbor, Mich., was also recognized for his commitment to the environment with an Honorable Mention, and a $500 donation to an environmental charity of his choice.

The 2010 Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award will launch on Earth Day, April 22, 2010. For more information, visit www.zeftronnylon.com.
