WASHINGTON, DC — The Engineering Field Activity (EFA) Midwest, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), in Great Lakes, IL, recently received a Revolution in Business Affairs Beacon Award for work on the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes Bachelor’s Quarters. The Beacon Award was established in 1999 to formally recognize Navy and Marine Corps personnel and organizations whose innovative achievements significantly improve Department of the Navy operations.
EFA Midwest received the honor for the $60 million complex of Bachelor Enlisted Quarters at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes. The complex improved the quality of life for navy sailors, while saving money and enhancing the environment. The bachelors’ quarters were completed in 22 months, on schedule, and were delivered with zero cost growth.
