High-Performance Prismatic Daylighting Solutions for Green Buildings

Greenbuild Booth No. 3349

Sunoptics offers several high performance prismatic daylighting solutions for the retail, commercial/industrial, government, and school marketplace.

Sunoptics Signature Series model can provide approximately 68 percent visible light transmission while maintaining 100 percent diffusion over a wider area without the hot spots, glare and uneven lighting associated with conventional skylights and daylighting products.

Sunoptics prismatic skylights are designed to provide the maximum level of light transmission whole providing 100 percent diffusion for glare-free, energy free cool natural light into the building. They provide a minimum of 35 percent more light transmission while providing 100 percent diffusion compared to any industrial skylight on the market today. Unlike active systems, they have no moving parts and don't require maintenance.

All of Sunoptics standard double and triple glazed fixed skylights utilize the 800MD Frame design with a fully insulated, condensation-resistant, thermally broken frame with integrated condensation gutter and exterior weeping wells. Pre-installed foam curb seals and weather sweeps eliminate air infiltration issues as well as concerns from driving rain and snow. The high performance qualities allow Sunoptics to offer warranties up to a 20-year leak-free term.

Sunoptics extrudes 100 percent and thermally forms all of its plastic prismatic sheets. The company's multiple dome shapes and styles are made from various grades of 100 percent impact modified acrylic or High Velocity Hurricane Approved (HVHZ) polycarbonate with the highest level of structural integrity and visible light transmission with 100 percent diffusion available in the marketplace. Sunoptics also regrinds all of its post-industrial scrap material and is able to provide a minimum 50 percent post industrial recycled content in its plastic.

Under the USGBC's LEED certification point system, multiple point opportunities may be earned using Sunoptics high performance prismatic skylights in areas such as energy efficiency, recycled content and daylighting of spaces. A complete documentation of LEED point opportunities is available.
