ICI Partners with GE to Build First Ecomagination Homes in Florida

Daytona, Fla. — Homebuyers in Ormond Beach, Fla. will soon have the opportunity to own innovative homes that can reduce their energy and indoor water usage — as well as emissions associated with the home — while changing the way the homeowners interact with their indoor environments.

Construction on ICI Homes’ EFACTOR homes featuring ecomagination in Ormond Beach, Fla., are currently underway. The 133 energy- and water-efficient homes will be located in Westlake 4 and Westlake 6 of Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club.

Compared to average industry-accepted new homes, EFACTOR residences featuring ecomagination offerings are designed to achieve:
  • At least 30 percent household energy savings
  • At least 20 percent savings on household indoor water consumption
  • At least 30 percent reduction in emissions associated with the home, according to ICI
EFACTOR homes inspired by ecomagination include advanced features such as:
  • New GE artCommand Dashboard: an interactive wall panel that provides current and historical feedback on electricity and indoor water consumption. The Dashboard’s available options include programmable thermostat and security system interface, and whole-home lighting control, intercom and home audio interface.
  • GE and GE Profile ENERGY STAR qualified appliances: energy-efficient designs matched with groundbreaking features and innovative style.
  • GE advanced lighting package: indoor and outdoor lighting, with at least 50 percent of the lighting fixtures using GE Energy art compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) that use up to 75 percent less electricity than standard incandescent lamps.
  • The Environments for Living Certified Green program standards: tight construction, fresh-air ventilation, improved insulation, efficient HVAC equipment, humidity control, pressure balancing and combustion safety.
  • Offering comfort and energy limited guarantees: Homes built to ecomagination Homebuilder Program specifications are classified Environments for Living Certified Green, as they use advanced building science techniques to deliver both comfort and energy efficiency. Environments for Living offers a guarantee* to the original homeowner that there will be no more than a 3 degree temperature differential from the center of any conditioned room within each thermostat zone.
  • GE Brilliance Solar Electric Power Systems (optional): engineered to install quickly and reliably to provide years of virtually maintenance-free operation, GE Brilliance solar electric power systems typically meet 20-30 percent of a home’s electricity needs, and work in conjunction with local utilities.
  • GE Mortgage (optional): Builders will have the option but not the obligation to recommend an innovative mortgage to consumers purchasing ENERGY STAR qualified homes. Projected utility savings may be factored into the loan qualification decision. Homebuyers may be eligible for a discount from GE Money’s standard interest rate that would otherwise apply.
