St. Louis — The St. Louis Community College Campus in Wildwood, Mo., was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The new 66-acre campus consists of a 73,000-square-foot building equipped to serve as many as 2,500 students with “smart classroom” technologies and expansive daylighting and views from the classrooms, offices and commons. The facility also features a multipurpose room for college and community activities, recharging stations for electric/hybrid vehicles, water conserving fixtures and a large pond for stormwater retention and treatment. In addition, the project diverted more than 95 percent of construction waste from local landfills.
