New Study Reaffirms Performance of Polyisocyanurate Insulation

WASHINGTON, DC — According to a case study recently released by the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA), increasing the thickness of polyiso insulation significantly reduces energy costs while providing a positive rate of return on the cost of installation.

The purpose of the case study, conducted by Energy Services Provider Group (ESPG), and independent energy analysis firm in Maryland, was to measure the economic and environmental effects of additional thickness of polyiso roof insulation over the minimum code requirement. Building energy costs were calculated for buildings in seven cities, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle, Denver and Atlanta. The study found that an additional 1 inch or more of insulation thickness provides significant benefits in the form of a much higher rate of return to users, as well as greatly reduced energy costs.

For additional information on the study, call 202-628-6558 or visit http://www.pima.org.
