Residential Carbon Footprint Calculator

YKK AP America furthers its philosophy of upholding environmental responsibility by launching a residential iPad app designed specifically for homeowners. The free app, YKK AP Windows & Doors Energy Guide, empowers homeowners to take control of their carbon footprint. It introduces an energy calculator, which uses simple information about a homeowner’s heating and cooling habits to calculate potential energy savings, cost-savings and CO2 reduction, as a result of simply upgrading to YKK AP’s window and door systems in their home.

The Energy Calculator asks homeowners to input the types of windows in their home, and then compares it to high-performance systems, showing the cost and energy savings if they replaced their windows with YKK AP systems. This enables them to see at-a-glance how small changes to their home can make a significant difference to the environment — and to their wallet.

In addition to the calculator, the iPad app supplies homeowners with general product information, as well as project and product photos so they can browse through the value-added benefits of YKK AP’s Precedence replacement windows, StyleGuard hurricane windows and StyleView new construction windows.

“Today’s homeowners want to get the most bang for their buck, and we are providing a resource for them. Our Windows & Doors Energy Guide gets to the root of the weakest link in home energy efficiency — windows,” said Craig Marple, residential sales and marketing manager at YKK AP America. “We’re proud to provide this resource to the residential industry, and hope we are able to help homeowners see the big difference small changes in their homes can make.”
