Rooftop Unit by Carrier Recovers Energy, Improves Indoor Air Quality

SYRACUSE, NY — Carrier Corp.’s new COBRA High Efficiency Energy Recovery Rooftop Unit is part of the Weathermaster series developed with indoor air quality in mind. The unit exhausts poor quality return air directly outside without risk of contaminating the fresh air supply. At the same time, COBRA reclaims the exhausting air’s energy and uses it to precondition the fresh supply air, providing economical comfort for both building occupants and owners, Carrier says. This, in turn, reduces COBRA’s own operating costs even further.

Compliant with ASHRAE Standard 62’s requirements for increased air ventilation and acceptable humidity levels, the company says COBRA is ideal for schools, restaurants, retail and health club facilities. The product offers up to 100 percent outside air ventilation, comfort cooling, heating, humidity control and energy recovery. Utilizing Carrier’s high efficiency, ASHRAE 90.1, Energy Star-compliant 48/50HJ rooftop design, COBRA can provide three to 12.5 tons cooling capacity, with the additional capability of conditioning 600, 1000, 2000 or 3000 cubic feet per minute of outdoor air.

Within each COBRA unit is an exclusive iso-exhaust, dual return, curb mounted duct connection that allows separate airstreams to enter the unit, eliminating any contamination concerns, while recovering “lost” energy from return air. Carrier’s one-piece COBRA Energy Recovery Rooftop Unit arrives on the job site completely assembled, having already undergone a complete factory-run to ensure it meets stringent quality and reliability design requirements. Plus, Carrier says, it fits on a standard rooftop curb.

The unit does not turn ignition on in winter time for heating. There is not pilot in the unite and I wast told to change the master control board. Does this sound right?
