Smart-R Wall Solution

CENTRIA introduces the Smart-R Wall Solution to its unique line of exterior metal wall systems. This new system offers a high-performance architectural cladding with seamless integration of panels, windows, louvers and sunshades resulting in sleek sightlines at component joinery intersections. Smart-R walls provide improved thermal performance and offer superior defense against water intrusion – all with tremendous design flexibility. It is CENTRIA’s most efficient and aesthetic approach to metal wall systems.

“The Smart-R Wall Solution is a system that integrates multiple architectural design facets into one innovative wall,” said Greg Lusty, Product Manager, CENTRIA. “Due to its integrated design, Smart-R reduces the amount of materials used while providing an unmatched combination of aesthetics, performance and sustainability. Moreover, the design specifically addresses air infiltration, which is a critical issue in overall wall performance.”

The Smart-R Wall Solution integrates the following components:
  • 3-Inch Formawall Dimension Series T insulated metal wall panel – enhanced thermal performance available with all popular Formawall profiles; it seamlessly integrates with louvers, sunshades and Formavue windows;

  • FV-600 Formavue window – a thermally efficient shop-assembled, integrated punched or strip window system available on metal studs or thru-tube supports; and

  • Formawall IMV insulated metal vertical joint – the only foam panel product that offers a four-sided metal joint appearance, allowing for added aesthetic flexibility and  a superior defense against water intrusion.
The Smart-R Wall Solution’s factory-assembled and field-glazed windows and 3-inch-thick factory foamed insulated metal panels combine an aesthetically pleasing exterior wall surface, thermal barrier and continuous air and vapor barrier all in one panel. This decreases the risk of improper field installation, which is a regular problem in wall systems with multiple components, and increases the speed of construction.

Smart-R is an environmentally responsible choice for construction. The engineered composite foam panel, integrated accessories, and factory-assembled window reduce the amount of material used during the manufacturing process and minimize waste at the jobsite. As sustainability continues to grow in relevance in the building industry, CENTRIA strives to push beyond the basic “green” initiatives of environmental conservation to a broader understanding that encompasses other factors such as waste, toxic emissions, social implications and economic considerations. A smarter way of thinking, smarter design and smarter performance was the drive behind CENTRIA’s Smart-R Wall System.

Like so many of CENTRIA’s other product lines, Smart-R and its various components are available in a variety of options in terms of form, color, textures and finishes. By providing architects and owners with virtually unlimited choices, Smart-R can help them achieve buildings that are innovative as well as high performing.

Traditional multicomponent metal wall assembly has been used extensively throughout the United States because it was believed to be a good, low-cost option. However, when examined more closely, the multicomponent wall systems, normally requiring seven components or more, have numerous problems, not the least of which is poor energy efficiency. A single-component wall system reduces performance issues and risks. When you combine that with seamless integration of panels, windows, louvers and sunshades, it’s easy to see why the Smart-R Wall Solution is an innovative alternative, whether your project requires high performance, striking aesthetics, measurable sustainability or all three combined.
