Timber Frame Company Building Environmentally-Friendly Manufacturing Facility

Claremont N.H. — Davis Frame Company Inc., a New England manufacturer of timber frame homes, has revealed plans to build an environmentally-friendly timber frame manufacturing facility in Claremont, N.H. The Davis Frame Company is designing their newest building to meet the high energy conservation and environmental standards required to be Silver-Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Rating System.

The new shop space will provide approximately 13,000 square feet that will be used to house specialized machinery and to manufacture a wide range of timber frame products. There are significant benefits to manufacturing the component parts of timber frame buildings at an off-site facility such as this one. Because it offers a controlled environment, the advantages include improved overall construction quality, reduced site construction costs, and the ability to more easily control and reduce waste.

Environmentally-friendly aspects of the new Davis Frame Company shop’s design include: a high percentage of recycled material, primarily in the steel and concrete of the structure; wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC); building materials with high insulation values to reduce heating and cooling costs and energy requirements; lighting engineered for efficiency and low energy use; low and no-VOC paints and adhesives; recycled and recyclable carpet tiles; low-flow bathroom fixtures; and on-site collection, storage and use of rainwater thanks to a rain capture system and rain gardens (beds planted with special vegetation that naturally filters and treats the water).

George Yonnone
March 10, 2009 7:32 PM
My name is George Yonnone, I have been repairing and replacing structural components to antique buildings since 1970. I love what I do and I love traveling, so it works out well. I am asking if you would be kind enough refer my company to clients seeking a professional repair/restoration company to make repairs to their homes or barns. This is assuming that your company does not perform this service and there are not qualified professionals in your region. I specialize in 18 and 19thC homes, barns and log cabins as well as large wooden column restoration. A majority of my work consists of jacking buildings up , pulling them back together and squaring the frame. Needless to say I spend a lot of time replacing poor repair work performed by well meaning although inexperienced carpenters. I work nationally serving clients that are unable to find qualified companies in there aria who are willing to tackle large building repair . All repair work is guaranteed unconditionally. I ask that any referrals mention your name so that I may have the opportunity to thank you. Sincerely George I will be offering seminars and training sessions in the fine art of lifting and repairing antique buildings. The subject to be taught will be Structural Repair and will focus on grade sill replacement. Based on current trends in the building trades it appears that the term structural repair has been eliminated in favor of building to existing conditions. In this course I will discuss how to recognize potential damage, How existing sight conditions and water contribute to the damage. I will also cover the need to right the building. Preparation and installation of the jacking system, Lifting and leveling the building and removing the original sill, Documentation, Building and replacing the new sill and resetting the building. The procedures and training will be enhanced with inside tricks and tips acquired over the past 39 years of discovery. A date and location will be announce along with a fees. Attendance will be limited to 10 ten qualified participants. This is not as yet an accredited program, however, fore those dedicated to the preservation of antiquity, this is the ground floor knowledge you need for the 21st century. Its time to learn how to do it right GEORGE YONNONE RESTORATIONS P.O. BOX 482 Great Barrington, MA 01230 Cell 413-441-1478 Home Office 413-528-2253 gyrestorations.com
