Vicwest Joins Fight to "Go Green"

Vicwest, a company with more than 100 years of experience in the building products industry, has always strived to develop new and innovative ideas. That’s why, with innovation and eco-friendliness in mind, Vicwest has joined in the fight to “go green.” From steel roofing and cladding to steel roof and floor decking, Vicwest’s products have a variety of eco-conscious qualities. With Vicwest, design professionals have the ability to design a building with environmental sustainability in mind.

Product Overview: Why Steel Roofing and Cladding?

Vicwest steel cladding and roofing provide an economical alternative to traditional cladding materials and offer several profile options to suit any construction need. Each profile has been individually tested to withstand various environmental and structural challenges. From the potential for curved and straight-slope uses of the Tradition roofing profile to the clean lines of the AD300 cladding profile, customers can find a solution that will give them the traditional, contemporary or avant-garde look for any building project.

Product Overview: Why Steel Roof and Floor Deck?

Vicwest's steel roof and floor deck panels provide excellent lateral diaphragm action thus reducing the necessity for structural bracing. Their incombustible nature means architects, engineers and owners will be reassured by excellent fire ratings and resistance to harsh elements. Vicwest’s metal decking is available in several thicknesses of Galvanized and Galvanneal steel. The Galvanneal coating can be easily field painted — which provides for even more options for visual enhancement.

What are the environmental benefits of using Vicwest’s steel products?

·  Painted Finishes: Vicwest offers a variety of WeatherX finishes which are ENERGY STAR qualified.
·  Reduced Waste in Landfills: When permitted by local building codes, re-roofing applications can require little removal of waste from building sites resulting in less landfill waste.
·  Recycled Content: Vicwest metal roofing and cladding systems are manufactured with recycled content. They are extremely durable, have a long lifecycle and are 100 percent recyclable at the end of their lifespan.
· Reduced Cooling Consumption: Metal roofing systems by Vicwest can reduce cooling consumption during summer months. This results in less fossil fuels burning in the atmosphere, thus reducing smog and pollution.
· LEED Certification: Vicwest metal roofing profiles can help designers earn LEED certification.
· Reduced VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Emissions: When installed onsite, Vicwest metal roofing and cladding systems will not release VOCs into the atmosphere.
· Durability and Easy Disassembly: Several of Vicwest’s products, in compliance with LEED certification, are designed for durability and disassembly. From an overall product point of view, steel roofing and cladding are often used to refurbish existing structures. Vicwest’s finishes are durable, and the screw-down fastening systems lend themselves to disassembly. And as an added benefit, Vicwest’s products are low-maintenance and completely recyclable at the end of their lifecycle — and in most cases are recycled locally.

To add to the environmental benefits that their products provide, Vicwest makes every effort to ensure each project reaches its “eco-friendly” potential. When considering the use of Vicwest products, Vicwest offers consulting services to design professionals who are interested in achieving LEED certification or simply designing with environmental sustainability in mind. Earning LEED credits doesn’t have to be a cumbersome task when you enlist the services of one of our consultants.

From concept to completion, Vicwest delivers what you need, when you need it, and where you need it.
