Editor's Note

Welcome to ED+C's Targeted eNews: Water Conservation

A line from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" reads, "Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink." In the poem, a group of sailors have become lost in the middle of the ocean, and the wind has died. They find themselves trapped on their boat without fresh water.

Realistically, we're not much better off than those sailors.

While roughly 71 percent of the earth is covered in water, only about 0.3 percent is suitable for human consumption. Of the 0.3 percent, most of it is unattainable. It's either trapped underground or frozen in the glacial icecaps.

Human industry that turns our drinkable water undrinkable doesn't help either. Couple that with an ever-growing global population, and the situation looks dire.

But there are ways to conserve what little consumable water we have while treating and reusing water that's already been "used." This Targeted eNews highlights some of those actions and products helping to preserve what little water we really have. For more information on water conservation, be sure to visit www.EDCmag.com.

Cheers,

Derrick

Chicago Faucets ECAST Line Meets Latest California Lead-Free Safety Standards       Montage-of-ECAST_new
On January 1, 2010, products affected by California Assembly Bill 1953 must receive certification from an independent, ANSI-approved, third-party testing organization in order to be sold and installed in California.

In response to this bill, Chicago Faucets is proud to introduce their ECAST line of high-quality brass faucets and fixtures, including deck mounted and wall mounted faucets, metering faucets, stop valves, specialty fittings and bubblers. The line was developed specifically to meet the AB1953 standard requiring faucets intended to dispense water for human consumption must not exceed a total weighted average of 0.25% maximum lead content.
