A Civil War hospital in the U.S. capital is rejuvenated as a community center and wins an EID award.

Opened at the end of the Civil War in 1866, the Old Naval Hospital served as a 50-bed hospital for seaman, later as a hospital corps training school and then as a home for elderly soldiers and sailors.
